What to Say?
Well, it's been awhile. We've recovered, slowly, from March. Having a wedding to plan has helped a great deal, and the planning has effectively taken over all of my free time and most of my free thought cycles. Seriously. I have forgotten how to have a non-wedding conversation at work (unless it's directly about work, and then I kind of manage).
For instance, this is one thought process I remember having recently when having lunch with a friend.
"OK, I shouldn't talk about the caterer or the RSVP list, because that's all wedding stuff. I know! I'll tell her how my sister's dress didn't fit. Oh, wait, that's also wedding. Hmm, I could tell her how I'm almost done sewing another honeymoon dress... "
You get the idea, and now I'm doing it to you!
I have been knitting, but not a lot recently. I've had to make a conscious effort to just relax a little bit every day, and the uncomplicated projects I'm working on right now are about all I can handle.
This is the beginning of the Piedmont Park Hoodie. It was being sold as a kit when I visited Knitch in Atlanta a few weeks ago, and even though I have run almost three miles to pay for the yarn, I think it's worth it. I got to try on the store sample, and I loved how it fit. I also have been loving short-sleeved sweaters recently!
I have had some issues with gauge that I'm still trying to figure out. The gauge on the pattern seems to be impossibly tight, and even at a larger gauge I've still had to add rows to make it the correct length. Strange. I'll probably try to get in touch with the designer if my changes don't work, but it's too much to contemplate right now.
The other project I've worked on recently is a Charade Sock in Socks that Rock Terra Firma. A simple-but-interesting two-row repeat and a comforting color really combine nicely to make a de-stressing project. In fact, the first sock is already done, and I'm working on the second one. How's that for a change?
I've been sewing a lot recently. I've found it hugely satisfying, and quite useful. I'll try to having sewing updates soon, but with only eleven days to go, I'm not promising anything.

Glad you had something happy to keep your mind occupied, and I hope the planning continues to go well.
That sweater is looking super cute!

Oh, I remember carrying on like I was the only person on the planet to get married! You're nowhere near as bad as I was. :)

Oh, wedding plans are always so exciting. How could you NOT talk about them?! Both of your new projects look very pretty, but I'm more impressed with your sewing skills. I really, really need to learn. Good luck in the coming days. I'm sure everything will be perfect.

Thanks for the update! I was beginning to wonder how things were going. Glad you are finding a little time to de-stress here and there. I'm sure everything will be great next week. Can't wait! :)

As long as you post lots of lovely pics from the wedding, we'll forgive whatever blogging lapses there are! Enjoy this time!

Welcome back - love the current projects. In fact, I'm knitting Charade socks, too! Such a good pattern - oddly addictive.
Now what's that delightful purple yarn?

Eleven Stitches, eleven days. It will all get done, and if it doesn't, it doesn't--you'll have fun stories to tell. Try to maintain a sense of calm!

A wedding is a huge, wonderful event. There is a lot of planning that goes into it. It's completely okay if you feel like you're all wedding all the time. That's what's going on with you. It's a big deal and it's special. Go ahead and let it take over. Meanwhile, I love that your "uncomplicated" projects include a cable sweater. Hugs and best wishes with all the final details and planning!

A wedding is a biggie! Gotta talk about it. Love the socks and the cabley goodness of your sweater. Looking forward to photos of another honeymoon dress. I loved the other 3 dresses.

Oh, that hoodie will be gorgeous - love that rich color!! And Eleven Stitches has eleven days - woot woot!!

That is really gorgeous yarn you are using for the hoodie. It knits up very well. I would definitely have no problem running three miles for that yarn. BTW, I really think that is an ingenious idea. Now, take a deep breath and everything will be fine through the next few days. Also, there is absolutely no problem talking about your wedding all the time. You're suppose to in my mind. It's huge moment in your life!

It sort of feels more like sewing season than knitting season, doesn't it? Sewing is soooo much more immediate most of the time. Your friends & family are probably thinking about the wedding a lot, too, and expect you to be thinking about it. But when YOU think that it's all you're talking about, you probably need a mental break--talk about non-wedding related movies or music or books instead!

LOL :-) It's understandable that you want to talk 'weddings' all the time, so don't feel bad about it, and your friends should hopefully indulge you, after all it's something (or it should be!) we only do once ;-)
So talk away, and keep us posted on your planning. Love the new hoodie you're working on.

The socks look wonderful so far! That pattern is very good for a gently variegated yarn like this one. I'm going to have to take a closer look at it.
And I know just what you mean about the wedding talk. ;-) This too will pass, really!

I just came over from Jessica's blog. Felicitations! It looks like the weather JUST held off for you this weekend, yes? I hope? (It did here, but you're further south.) But, anyway, congratulations to you both!
